Starlight Cinemas and the Walmart store chain announced a partnership today that will allow customers to stream their favorite movies and TV shows to their Smart TVs, Smart Devices, and other devices in the Walmart Marketplace.
The partnership comes after Walmart introduced a number of new offerings for its consumers to stream and rent to their TV, Smart Phone, and more.
The Walmart store app, which will be available in the U.S. and Canada beginning this fall, will let customers stream and search for movie titles, trailers, trailers and more, all from within the Walmart Store app.
“We are excited to partner with Walmart on this exciting new opportunity to deliver on our promise to create a great shopping experience for our customers,” said David Ostrander, VP of Retail at Starlight.
“Starlight Cinema has been a pioneer in providing consumers with a convenient way to search and discover movies and other content in their local Walmart stores, and we are pleased to expand its reach in this new area.”
Starlight, which is owned by Paramount Pictures, is known for producing and licensing popular TV shows like The Big Bang Theory and Dexter.
The company has also recently developed an app for Roku devices and Amazon Fire devices that allows consumers to rent and stream movies and television shows.
Starlight is the latest addition to Walmart’s lineup of online entertainment options.
Earlier this year, Walmart announced the addition of Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu Plus, and Hulu Plus Plus, a popular premium video service that allows users to stream movies, TV shows, and videos on any device.
Earlier this month, Walmart partnered with Apple to launch Apple TV, a streaming box that allows people to watch content from Apple devices and Apple TV devices.
Starlight has already expanded its offering of streaming services to more than 100 Walmart stores in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
Walmart plans to offer the Starlight app to more Walmart stores around the country by the end of the year.
